Hi! I got my rooster a couple of months ago and I was told that he’s an Australorp. From what I know, Australorps are mainly supposed to be black but my rooster has some brown and gold on him too. Attached are some pictures of my rooster, Waffles.

Her looks like he had some B. A. in him. Dark legs with yellowish soles on his feet, body shape, head to comb/wattles ratio. But he has something else in him too.
What it could be? There ain't no dang tellin! :gig

He could also just be a subpar hatchery BA. Hatcheries breed for sheer numbers, not SOP (standards of perfection). Not meeting the BAs SOP doesn't mean he isn't a good bird though, he could turn out to be the best you've ever had.

Thank you, EggWalrus! He’s amazing and I love him already! His sister seems like a full Australorp though.

Hi! Does anyone have a clue as to what he could be a mix of? I’m new to raising chickens and I am really curious. Thanks!

:welcome :frow Hard to say what else he might have in him. A few years ago I wanted some Brown Leghorns. I saw a bin marked Brown Leghorns at a feed store so I bought some. They turned out to be Partridge Rocks. I have since found a breeder and I now have my Brown Leghorns. Good luck and have fun...
