Wyandotte, maybe? Because of the comb & yellow legs. AlthoughI don’t see lacing, so maybe not.He came from Murray Mcmurray hatchery. They don’t sell any chickens labeled “Easter Eggers” but could he be the Whiting True Blue?

So, it really does make sense that I am confused with what I have in my barnyard. It looks like he has a modified pea comb (one parent gave the pea comb gene, the other parent gave the not-pea gene.)
That means he is not a Wyandotte (would have rose comb.)
He is not a Brown Leghorn (would have single comb or rose comb.)
Should not be a Dark Cornish (should have a proper pea comb, with 2 copies of the gene making it small and tidy. The body shape is a bit wrong as well.)
I don't think he's quite right for anything McMurray sells, but these would be the most likely options:

(Should be pure for pea comb, and should have muffs, so not a perfect match for him. They can come in any color.)

(Should be pure for pea comb, so still not a perfect match. Can come in any color, and can be with or without muffs, so those points match just fine.)

(Should have a single comb, which he does not. They seem to come in a variety of shades of red/gold, some with white and some with black in various patterns. So the color is a fine fit.)
If he was a "mystery chick," I wonder if they are starting to breed Olive Eggers? A cross of Welsummer with their "Ameraucana" could easily produce a bird who looks like him. If they are just starting a flock, they might be sending some out as mystery chicks but not yet listing them for sale as a specific breed.
Yes, exactlySo, it really does make sense that I am confused with what I have in my barnyard.
