I live in california in a medium sized town. Where i live used to bemnothing but fields for app 20miles up into the foothills. Ive seen pheasents around a few times. Ive never heard this rooster before so i dont think he is from the neighborhood. Also being its spring time and how fascinated and attracted to my hens he was makes me think he may be wild but he hangs around and iletsme get within five feet of him without freaking out so he must be domesticated somewhat. Any help with this would be much appreciated. I would really like to keep him and possibly breed him. But i want to get some female birds of this breed so im not interbreeding with whT i have.

He is just so beautiful. I cant help but want to keep him around. I named him pheonix.

For the record. I have not captured this rooster nor have i tried to. He is pretty comfortable around me and my kids and the dogs. I wouldnt want him to go away and not return. I can get pretty cllose to him and have cornered him for pictures a few times but thats it. Ifound out who the rooster belongs to and its a neighbor that lives about one hundred and fifty yards from my house. I am going to go over to the owners house this after noon and ask what type of chickens they are and if i can possibly get a few chicks from him to start my own group of these and maybe even get a rooster similar to the one that visits. I really dont think i should let him breed with my hens cause the offspring could be real ugly! Probably best to keep the line as it is.
