what breed is this

I was told that since the end of it's beak is cut off (wich he said is so they peck at their eggs) that shows that it's a genetically modified mix designed for laying eggs and is not worth as much money

Beak clipping is a common practice in commercial situations not to prevent egg eating, but to prevent cannibalism that is common in the overcrowded and stressful situation of such conditions. It had nothing to do with the breeding of the bird

It depends on the market in your area. It can vary greatly from place to place. Here in NW MO she would be a $5 hen. But in other places she could be worth $15 or more.

What I tell people is this. . . If your happy with what you were paid, and the buyer is happy with the bird. Then the price was right.
