What breed is this?

Ther actually is a Colombian marans. Not common though.
Do you think that's what it is?
I know there is such a thing but I would think it would be near impossible to receive one and not know that's what it is.
One of the reason I ask where they got it from.
Like someone said columbian is a very popular pattern so hard to be able to say for sure what it is.
Playing the odds it is most likely a cross.
I actually have a Sussex that has some feathers on its legs and its from pure stock that I've worked with for a couple years.
Could be something like that or even something that shouldn't have a single comb but had one pop up.
Hard to say for sure but I was going with most likely instead of something that is ultra rare.

Nah I don't think it's a pure marans. The underfluff looks not pure white. And there is a brown feather coming in on the wing. Do you think that 9wk old pullet will ever lay an egg?

There is a thread or two on here somewhere about people trying to create this color marans.

Edit: I should have stated I am nowhere near an expert. Currently in school over on the marans thread. One of the veterans could probably give better input as to if there is any marans at all in it. Maybe if @Chooks man had a moment?

Its common for Sussex to have a little leg feathering. Even more common in Light Sussex. I even get it sometimes in my Coronation Sussex "I cull for it of course".

Mine was a coronation. I got mine as lights split to coronation so probably came in with the lights.

From what I've read the Sussex as a breed is very old "one of the oldest British breeds". And the original Light Sussex birds were bred by crossing with Brahmas and Cochins. So I suppose that's why some slight leg feathering pops up sometimes.
