What breed is your broody?

My first Broody welsummer!!! (or is it welsumer????) She seems to be a good broody so far (Tuning eggs, if you move eggs outside her she tucks them under etc. I don't know wheter she will be a good mother bacause i have heard so many stories of welsumers being terrible mothers, but also i have heard many stories of them being fabulous mothers!!???!!

I have a broody Jersey Giant hen sitting on guinea fowl eggs and my Salmon Favorelle hen has 3 guinea fowl chicks which just hatched in her nest, she isn't even a year old yet. I don't have a rooster so none of my chicken eggs are fertile.

One of mine was broody last year but she didn't have any luck. I've also had hatchery BR and brown leghorn hens go broody. I've come to the conclusion that the books just guessed and didn't ask these hens if they were broody or not...I've yet to find any particular breed that is not broody.

My girls Blossom White Leghorn and Mini Black sexlink havent gone broody but their daughters are, but their mixed with orpington so I guess that explains that, the breeders of these breeds bred broody out of em and one generation mix is all it takes to breed it right back in there. LOL
I wish Mini the BSL would cause I think she would make an awesome Momma!

I do not have a broody yet this year...................
But last year it was Aussie,Delaware, SS and two Cuckoo Marans.
They all did a good job but the Marans were by far the hardest working with thier chicks............
They had nests next to each other hatched about the same time and did a joint venture raisng the chicks.
It was a kick

) Betty and Onyx (Orpingtonx cochins) Bella (Cuckoo Maran x leghorn mix) and it seems like my Orpington x leghorn , Lulu is trying to go broody too. The only ones that have successfully hatched out chicks are the silkie girs, Diamond 5 chicks, Sugar plum 2 chicks, and Beanie hatched out just 1 so far she is still trying to sit on the nest for now, AND I know I mentioned Diamond her chicks are about 11 Weeks ? and is now setting on a new clutch of eggs I don't think the poor girl can get of enough of the motherly feeling. She is so good at it though!
