just some stubborn onesCompared to my OEGBs and especially to my OEGB/Cochin cross, they don't rank up there. Maybe mine are just stupid and stubborn, because I've shown them where the low roost is every night for the past three months, and they still get into the nesting boxes to sleep, every night. Kung-Fu is smarter than the other two; her nests are usually in secure places, rather than in the back of the cow pen (you would think after the first trampling, she would have figured it out?)
Silkies don't always prefer to roost like most chickens, mine both roost, & snuggle each other on the floor of the coop creating a big fluffy pile.Compared to my OEGBs and especially to my OEGB/Cochin cross, they don't rank up there. YW!thanks!
ooh I'll have to check those out!D’Uccles are just what you need they are a very pretty, calm, tiny, quiet bantam!
I show D’Uccles and it really is the best breed I have worked with.
if you have any questions let me know
I'll check it out thanks for the great advice!!@sunny_bellyboo if you aren't too far from Liberty Center, OH you may want to check with Rachel Bayes of Willow Acres. She breeds Ayam Cemani, Araucanas, Tolbunt Polish and a few different varieties of Brahmas. A breeder will have better quality birds for showing than a hatchery. Her kids are active in 4H and she may be able to set you up with a perfect match. https://www.ohiowillowacres.com/
It's a flat board, in the corner, a foot up, in a nice, secure location. There is bedding on it. A confused pullet tried to lay eggs on it. It is a nice silkie roost, and it took me an afternoon. They have to jump over two feet to get into the nesting boxes. Why bother?!!Silkies don't always prefer to roost like most chickens, mine both roost, & snuggle each other on the floor of the coop creating a big fluffy pile.
