What Breed of Duck Should I Get?

I was going to vote for Khaki Campbells because they are supposedly the best egg layers, but I keep seeing the Silver Appleyards breed popping up again and again here in the duck forum, so I voted for them with the Khakis as my second choice.

Hmmmm, maybe the universe is telling me I should be getting some Silver Appleyards for myself...

Well I voted blue/white Magpie because that isn't a breed you see or hear alot about and they are gorgeous. Silver Appleyard is another so they would have been my second choice.

That's a good point about the Magpie breed. Sounds like they are good multi-purpose birds too.

Yes they are. I don't use mine for meat though. But, boy, my magpie hen lays eggs!

I see from your profile that you also have Campbells and Anconas. Which of the three breeds have you found to be the best layers?

I would say white calls and second place, Magpie..
