Hello!

I have never had ducklings before, but I’m thinking about buying some. What is everyone’s favorite breeds? Why? What kind do you guys think I should get?

Partially depends on what you're getting them for? Eggs? Meat? Pets? Eating and destroying grass and yards? Looking cute on your farm?

If that's irrelevant and you just want to know favorite breeds I can answer that as well LOL
I love my magpies. I also love my runner ducks because they are hilarious.
But there are so many breeds I like and would suggest LOL

This will happen no matter what, lol!

I shouldn't answer this question, everyone knows I'm bias towards a certain species... 😉
LOL! That’s okay, I just wanted to hear everyone’s opinions, and I’d love to hear yours too!

The purpose would be for pets mostly, but also for eggs and beauty. :)

Honestly, I just find Muscovy more personable and friendly. All depends on the individual bird though, of course.

Even as ducklings, the 'scovies are more interactive and curious. I currently have two 'scovy ducklings and one Magpie duckling, and even though I handle them all the time, the Magpie wants nothing to do with me. The 'scovies come running over and start nibbling on me and climbing up to reach me.

That, and the females have the most lovely musical trill. They are much quieter than 'regular' ducks.

If you want a good dual purpose breed welsh harlequin ducks are great! I have one and she is really sweet (and beautiful) and she lays very well!
