What breed(s) should I start my flock with?

Well if you want goid oets,Bantam cochisn are great.I have 4,the girls are nit skittish but the cockerel really doesnt liked touched.

I have a question. Are barred plymouth rocks and plymouth rocks the same? Do they have the same egg productivity/behavior/personality? Because I contacted a store that said they had plymouth rocks but that they didn't get barred rocks. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks!

The barred is the most common color Plymouth Rock.

Ok, thanks. So is there any way I can identify the barred rock as a chick so I know I'm getting it instead of any other plymouth rocks?

Barred rocks are darker then Plymouth rocks,from what i see.

There do not seem to be too much differences.

Here's a pic of my Barred Rock as a chick (on the right) and the Speckled Sussex on the left. Last May... I don't know what the other colors of Plymouth Rocks look like as chicks.

The name is Barred Plymouth Rock. But it is so often shortened to Barred Rock, that I leave out the Plymouth. There are White Plymouth Rocks, and it looks like those are yellow as chicks--

So does that mean that barred rocks are nothing more than a color variation of the Plymouth Rock? There are no differences besides color and pattern?
