What breed/sex might I have?

I have some new chickens around the same age that look exactly like that. I have 3 white ones. Mine also have a few random black feathers around the tailfeathers. I did not see them hatch I just got them about a week ago. I was told "here take some white ones hey are Californias and Delawares." They are calm unless provoked. My dog went around them and one did not back off not an inch and puffed up its feathers as a warning to the dog. So I am thinking you and I both have some Californias based on other replies. We will know if they are boys or girls soon when they develop combs (or not) and begin to crow or go "bock bock bock." They are pretty chickens.

Cali whites would NOT come from a brown egg though.

They will start laying IMO at about 3 months. Backyard chicken eggs have more vitamins in them and do better baking. You will never go back to store bought eggs. Get you a whole bunch of chickens and trade with your cousin. Once you get everything set up it does not matter if you have 3 chickens or 33. They like to eat bugs and weeds from your yard, and are low maintenance once you have bought what you need. They take care of their own babies usually. Chickens are great entertainment.
