So my husband found this chick at the gas station last night and brought it home. Any ideas what breed it is? She has to be about 6-8 weeks old I'm guessing. I'm new chickens!

Your sentence started off pretty funny. I'm not sure if I would be happy about my husband picking up a chick at a gas station late at night. :-) If you could post a pic of the chick, then I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses.

Looks older than 6 to 8 weeks to me, as a full grown chicken. It looks to be a RIR, or as often referred to as a production red when from hatchery stock. Possibly a mix..

I'm helping you out. LOL LOL

If it did not crow yet, then it is likely to be a hen. Hard to tell the age of a chicken unless one inspects it closely. Looking at the feet of young chickens there is a difference, to that of older chickens. Hard to tell if a chicken is 3 or 8 years old.

Here is a pix of one that is currently 10. She looked the same at 2 years of age.

If they get good nutrition they look good into THEIR GOLDEN YEARS.
