can anyone help me determine the breed of this rooster? Thank you

This is a French Black Copper Marans. Not bad looking either.
Color needs a little help. Lovely tail. I have seen worse ones used at stud. What was the hue of egg from which he was hatched? If you got him as a chick ,did you get to see any of the eggs being laid by the flock? Hopefully he came from a dark egg. the dark egg color is passed on by the rooster to a significant degree.
Best,

I got him at a local flock swap a few weeks ago. The lady showed me the eggs that he came from and they were not chocolate but a deep brown. What else can you tell me about this breed? Do they do well with other breeds, ect.? I googled images and I am trying to find him some girlfriends. I would like to get pure breed.
Thanks

If you are willing to go with hybrids, I like the Black Stars (Black Sex Links) the best. They are friendly and docile, dual purpose birds, very hardy, and great layers of brown eggs. However, they will not breed true so if you want a standard breed I think the Black Australorp is the best way to go. Not quite as good a layer as the Black Stars, but better layers than other dual purpose, standard breeds, and they are super hardy, and very friendly and docile. Hope this helps.
