What breeds do you recommend?

My favorite chickens are
Sapphire Gems
Silkies (ours laid all through winter, and lays almost everyday... probably unique)
Brahmas (super sweet)
Cuckoo Marans
Speckled Sussex
EE
Welsummer... I love their eggs! And they’re so sweet
Barred Rock
GLW
Lavender Orpington
Barnevelder

Welcome to BYC!!!✨❤️
Australorps are the best bet for your hot weather in my opinion ( Austrailian Black Orpington)

I know lots of people on here who also live in hot climates love to
keep naked neck chickens, but I don't have much experience with them and it's up to you if you like their unique style or not.

EE's ( Easter Eggers ) are fabulous chickens. They are appealing to the eye and are usually pretty friendly, depending on the hen \ roo. I do agree they are a bit flighty though.

English Orpingtons and Buff Orpingtons are some of my favorites, and they make very good roosters since they are bred into being docile.

If you can find Black Sex Links (also know as Black Stars)- get them! Lots of people on this site can vouch for them, they are such sweet birds and lay lots of eggs.

Hope this helps!
I love our Black Stars they are only 7 weeks but are friendly than our Welsummers.

I just want to make a plug for any Orpington, not just Buff! I have lavenders, Isabel lavenders, and mauve Orpingtons both pullets and a cockerel and they are fantastic birds. Calm, friendly, and beautiful! If Buff is your fave color, awesome! Just don’t limit yourself to one color—all Orps are super great birds!

I also love my Ameraucanas…they are hands down my most entertaining and personable birds.

I would also say Silkies, but in your humidity that may be too much for them! We have a dry heat here, and I will say they do pretty well in our dry heat but we had misters, ice treats, ice packs and tons of shade.

My Welsummer is a sweet but less cuddly, my Wyandotte loves to visit and sit on me but must not be touched or she will leave, and my blue copper marans is very sweet and will sit next to me and chit chat while I visit them. She often sounds like she’s telling on the other chickens, as it sounds rather whiny 😆 but it’s a nice chat nonetheless hehe!

Anyway, good luck!!
