I want to get some gals that lay speckeled eggs. I have light brown brown white and ee chicks I am looking for dark brown and speckeled egg layers.

My Australorp lays a darker tan/brown egg and it has speckles. Not a lot but a few.

My Rhode Island Red sometimes lays speckled eggs. Actually, almost all have at least a few little speckles but occasionally we get a really spectacular one that is covered with pretty little freckles.

The speckles on my Production Reds are white. Pot Pie (the Barred Rock) had the dark speckling on her light brown egg but that's run it's course with very little now.

I've heard from many sources that the Welsummer is prone to speckle.

I have 4 Welsummers and they lay copper speckled eggs ... very pretty when mixed in a carton with my EE eggs.

Barnevelders, Welsummers, Marans, Penedesencas, all have a high rate of laying speckled eggs.

Any other common hatchery based brown egg layer can as well, such as Australorps, Sex Links, Production Reds, Orpingtons, Wyandottes, etc.
