What brooder can I do next?

I made sure I held the ducklings around our dog and let her sniff them and it let her know that they were not something that she had to protect us from. She was super great with them. I'd let her stay in the run with them and I think that my ducks thought she was one of them. They couldn't have cared less that she was in their run.

Their house is much smaller than what you need for your big flock! I've got another pen just like this on the other side of the barn only bigger. They love that "room divider" thing. I think it makes them feel secure and safe. Hardware cloth is all over every square inch that is vulnerable to predators.....hopefully!

I overbuilt for the 11 we have now, but we plan on up to 75 in the first house..........................

what a great space!
that space in the middle where the wheelbarrow is could be another pen or just an addition to the pen on the right.

I think if we do another pen I'd go all the way to the back wall and build it out as far as the pen on the left so it would be much bigger. We made the mistake of making the smaller pen on the left too short. I hit my head on it constantly. We just used pallets for the floor on the right side pen and put a full sheet of plywood over them.
I don't even want to think about what might be underneath them! There is a full sheet of plywood on the top too unlike the small pen which has all hardware cloth on the roof.

It worked out really nice having that part of the barn be open in the first place. The previous owners must have put farm equipment or a trailer under that part. This is what we started with.
