What broodies do you have in your coop?

no. Its a white plastic tote turned upside down, lid off and hole cut out and the miracle of duct tape.

I got a better idea for broody houses I saw on here involving pvc and screen that you can fold up and store durring winter.

That's a stink eye already. I'd be backing away from that.

I have my very first broodie! yaay! black orpington named Beauty. she went broodie yesterday which is cool cause I just brought home some orp eggs from a friend and I was going to put them in the bator, but will give them to her tomorrow if she stays put. Right now she is sitting on a golf ball and one unfertile egg

My Splash Cochin went broody the day it hit -17 here in Iowa.

Here is Pearl in her basket. She only has 2 eggs because, well, ITS COLD!

These are from last October. Welsummer on the bottom with 9 mixed breed chicks and White Cochin with 5 pure breed babies.

I also had Black Ameraucana raise a bunch of day old babies. I tried to let her hatch, but every time she left the nest box she'd go back to the wrong one leaving her eggs to get cold. She was a good mama though.

All these ladies were hatch mates from last March. It's the second time broody for Pearl, she lost her clutch last year to racoons.

I have a 3 year old EE who just hatched 7 chicks a couple days ago. She had never gone broody before. Last November a mutt hatched a clutch. She had only been laying a couple of months. I had one BA go broody but she killed her chicks when they hatched (I caught the end of the slaughter.) I've broken a couple of BA's and BO's from being broody. My favorite broodies were my 3 Kraienkoppes.

I have a White Rock that has been broody since Christmas. Can't get her to stop. She is not sitting on any eggs because I keep taking them away. I let her sit on some for a while but once she realized that they weren't going to hatch she would move on to some fresh ones (she is not laying any of her own). I am hoping she will give it up soon.

How are all the broodies doing? Mine is on day 17. How close to the 21 day mark do they usually start hatching?
