What broodies do you have in your coop?

I think my partridge silkie is starting to go broody, she was on the nest today and didn't come off when i put food in, normally they will, if she is still sitting in a couple of days i'll put some eggs from my mutt chickens under

If you look back through this thread, you will see some of these broodies are pretty far north. We were around +15 for lows when my bunch hatched in November and they were fine, even running around the coop at a few days old for long periods if not all day. Of course down here my coop has no heat or insulation; actually my coop is pretty open air. That said, I admit that below zero with wind is pretty low. As much as I hate heat lamps in coops, even I would be tempted. Maybe you could at least stop the wind -- is there room for bales of hay and some plywood on top, or something like that?

~~~~~~~~
Well, I think she is pretty much out of any wind, but that might be a good idea to add in some bales of hay -- they will probably get pooped on, but such is life.
Hopefully, my broody will be able to keep them warm; I'm just not sure what to expect since this is our first broody. Thanks for your ideas, ddawn.
We have chicks! Three have hatched so far. One more egg left, and it has been 23 days, but she is still sitting on it.
This has been our first experience with a broody. How amazing! Enjoy the pictures.
