just buying it is going to cost my life savings!! i need money making ideas now....

Before you go off and buy something without looking at what it can do, I suggest you find a site that tests cameras THOROUGHLY. I went to www.dpreview.com. Also Amazon has plenty of cameras that are cheap and users post their photos on there if the camera has been on the market for a while.

I got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ8K and it takes excellent pics. Panasonic may be an off brand for digital cameras, but they're technology level has increased so much, they are catching up with Canon and Nikon and surpassing them in some aspects.

This is the camera I have http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC...r_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1239916456&sr=1-11

And these are some pics I've taken with it.

Also keep in mind that it helps to know how to use it. A tool is only as good as the person using it.

1. Canon Powershot S2 lS, has 12x zoom. I think it was 500 dollars at amazon and I think it was used. This camera was bought about 4 years ago.

2. Cana Rebel XTi/EOS 400D single lens reflex. My mom bought this from someone at work for 700 dollars about two years ago. I love this camera and you can either do manual focus or auto.

There is also a faster shutter speed on this camera, it goes to 1/4000 of a second, so its easier to capture something that moves fast.

You can also look at my Deviantart page, link is in my sig, and it has more pictures that have been taken with the rebel.

Sony Alpha-100 DSLR (the latest models are the D-3500s and higher). Dirt cheap, now that the newer models have come out, and idiot-proof. I got it because it was the first 10+MP DSLR out there, and because Sony is just extremely user-friendly, and I am technologically challenged. POINT AND SHOOT FTW!!!

In my opinion (and I have had my share of expensive cameras), get a digital with a high number for the optical zoom. For example, mine is the 18x zoom (which I mentioned on pg 2). Digital zoom is not important. All it is cropping, which you can do on a computer after you download the pictures However, with a high optical zoom capability, you don't need an SLR with a telephoto lens for most shots that people take. Mine has the optical stabilizer (HIGHLY recommended!). The pics below were taken from the same place. The first with the zoom all the way out...the second zoomed in with the 18x optical zoom and NO digital zoom. Neither pictures have been cropped or altered in anyway since the photo was taken. In the first pic...see that little brown dot at the far end of the meadow? That's the deer in the second pic! We love our camper and haven't considered another camera since getting it!
