Hi first time to place an order and I hope I did OK.

I ordered 25 white rocks and 5 dark cornish

(I will be starting my "meat birds" and will start cross breeding with several purebreds to see what I end up with...I was told that white rocks and dark cornish are good for crossing for meat birds?? )

I was told at least 2 surprize chicks in the box will be included

What results have you have from Mcmurray? I did hear good things before.. What kind of service and quality of chicks can I expect?

all of your wisdom is appreciated!

Hi... The first and only time I have ordered from a hatchery was Murray McMurray. I ordered the mixed lot of bantams... it was an early special. It was Febraury 2007 and snowy at the hatchery and really cold here. They warned that they may include extra birds for warmth. We were set up and waiting for the birds when the call from the post office came. Well.... the packing slip said the doubled the order because of weather. Rushed the babies home and quickly made room for double the amount of birds.... there were some dead ones in the box and quite a few not looking too good. Started counting and realized that we had much more than double our order. Not counting the ones that had arrived dead and the few that we lost in the first few hours we had 52 babies!

I guess the hatchery really wanted to make sure we got the 25 we wanted. We've thinned our flock, kept 2 of the roosters and about 30 of the hens. Now they're on the second spring of raising babies!

Mc Murray is great!! My family has ordered from them at least 4 times and only once did we have dead chicks and that was because they were shipped over a holiday and we lost 4 bantams and a standard. But other than that one thing they are GREAT!!!

I'm very happy with the chicks I ordered from M. McMurry. They are beautiful and doing very well. I've had no death loss and the service was great. I would order from them again.

Good Luck with your new chicks - I hope you enjoy them!

I have bad luck with Murray Mumurray.

I have trid birds from them several times and no luck most have died over time. And do not get the butter cups at all. Also if you order whait tell after march becuse thay dont have thair birds seperaited out all the whay yet and you mite not get peir breeds.

I ordered from Murray McMurray this year. It was the first time I had ever ordered chicks. I ordered 52 and they sent 55. They all arrived alive and well. I will order from them again.

That is ridiculous. Of course you will get pure breds.

Ive ordered from them a couple of times throughout the past few years, and have been very satisfied. Their customer service is very good, too.
