She is a Cuckoo Maran. They are eating Nutrena nature wise all flock pellet feed. They rubbery looking thing is likely an egg membrane and double shelled eggs are caused by an egg staying in the egg shell sprayer too long and getting a second coat. Both can be signs of reproductive disorders. What's your birds breeds and diet?
Cut this out completely or reduce it to once a week. This is pretty bad for them in this amount as it causes fat build up, nutritional deficiency and laying problems.Daily treat mix of scratch, black oil sunflower seeds, mealworms. Frozen fruit/veggie scraps.
Thanks for the info! I will give this a try!Cut this out completely or reduce it to once a week. This is pretty bad for them in this amount as it causes fat build up, nutritional deficiency and laying problems.
Yes, thanks, aware of that but this seems different.......no yolk, albumen, membrane in the outer shell.@aart I have not seen this myself, it is really rare. But I have read about it. Here, for example.

Chickens don't have uterus, do they? Not sure another shell can be formed like that in the uterus.
First thought is that the lighter egg got stuck in another birds broken egg,
but it sure fits tight.
@Ridgerunner might know about a second shell forming like that.
Yes, better known as the shell gland.Chickens don't have uterus, do they?
