what chicken should i get?

What are you looking for in terms of a pet? Several are docile enough for this role, but if you could give more details in what you want that would help. For instance, there are bantams (smaller birds) and standards (larger birds). Some lay a lot of eggs, some less. Then there is egg color if that matters (typical brown/white vs blue, etc). Size of the egg you want might matter. Color of the hen could factor in. Of course, where you live could be a factor as well. Does it get really hot or really cold?

I am new to all this, but I really like my buff orpingtons.

well.... a small chicken that likes both climates hot and cold (egg color and size and egg viarity dosent really matter to me...also hen color is not important)

Chickens like to be clean i dont think theyd like a diaper, poor thing.

I have silkies and bantam cochin, both are very nice birds, but the silkies are so fluffy! I just love them!

silkies and cochins are nice, not very heat tolerant though.
