The hen/pullet there looks like an SP bantam Cochin, if that comb is a single.

The rooster/cockerel looks like a mixed breed.
Ah okay, what would you guess he is mixed with? she has 5 toes fyi - I thought it was odd, but I read it does occur at low frequency in all bantam breeds

Can cochin's not be silver penciled? Or what makes you think that? Either way, I don't mind. I got her because my chick was lonely - had a bad hatch of a small batch of shipped eggs, and I think she's just adorable
They can be all sorts of colors. She's beyond adorable. Would love to see what she looks like once she feathers out!

I see muffs or maybe a beard on her.

That was going to be my next question. She looks like a Silkie or Silkie mix. The 5 toes confirms that. One (or both) of those are not the parents.

I was thinking the same! the irony is, I wanted a silkie mix haha. Those were definitely her parents. They are isolated in that pen and she religiously marks the eggs. I think this only is the parents' second hatch actually - the other chicks were still young, too.

Funny enough though - google "bearded cochin" and the first chicken that comes up has a pattern that looks just like her wing patterning 😂 if her whole body looks like that she'll be gorgeous

Also, they do have another silkie mix I got an egg from. Maybe one of her eggs got mixed up with the other hen? She's white, so who knows what genetics she's covering up? They recently put her in that same pen. Maybe it's her egg. I hope so because she's so pretty - she's a silkie cochin

I'd bet that's the actual dam to this baby. There's no way that first pair made a beaded chick. At least as far as I know about genetics.

@The Moonshiner, watch the video and tell us what you think.

it's so funny, because the older chicks all appear to have penciling like the other hen. Maybe that's why she assumed the above hen couldn't be the mother. Also, she's new to that pen (with the other hen and lavender roo) I believe. They're just hatching out her first set of eggs with the same lavender roo and they gave me one to hatch. So I guess I'll see if the chickie pops out looking like the one I already have 😂

A hen can retain sperm for 14 (I believe) days. Were either hens in with a different rooster?

no they were not. Those three are her only bantams, and she just kept the rooster separate ,then introduced the silver penciled hen first, and then both hens. Now they live together
