I hope this is the right place to post this. We have some chicks that are a cross between a Rhode Island Red roo and a White Leghorn hen. What color eggs should the offspring of this cross lay?

Thanks!

I'm no expert and the closest thing I can say to help is if the hen has red earlobes then it will lay brown eggs and white earlobes will lay white. So, I would only guess since the parents would be one of each it would be a toss up. Maybe someone else knows for sure

I didn't think about looking at the earlobes. Thanks. I don't know if that's possible with the young chicks that I have, but I will take a look. I am trying to decide if I want to keep them. I don't need any more white egg layers, so I was hoping they might take after the RIR and lay brown eggs.

Yes light brown eggs, those would be red stars chicks. Can sex them by color also(sex link)
