What color is this dude?

This is my Ayam Cemani x Sebright cockerel we hatched out in May, and man is he a stunner! I’m curious to what color he might be, as I’m currently hatching some of his chicks.

I believe his mother was a Buff laced Sebright, and father was a normal Ayam Cemani (from what I know).

I originally thought that as well, but I think he has some lavender in his tail? I could be wrong...

Heterozygous dominant white with red leakage. Half of his offspring will likely be mostly white.

Paint (heterozygous white) but with some gold leakage. A color I really hadn't expected.

How did he end up that color? He is gorgeous! I would have expected chicks of that cross to be black. Genetics!

Also if the father was a cemani and mom a sebright, I would have expected him to have white shanks, pullets of that cross should have the black shanks/skin? I am so confused!

He’s likely a buff sebright cross. Buff sebrights are gold laced with a dominant white base. Dominant white covers black.
