What colour will the chick be? Closest answer gets a drawing of their chicken!!

AWWWWW these are adorable!!! This has absolutely made my day omg currently the name is haymitch!! Although if it’s a pulley it’ll turn into a hattie or an effie - not sure yet. I’ve heard that the dark chipmunk pattern and pronounced back stripes can hint at it being a female (although that may only be autosexing breeds) for now, it’s a waiting game xx
I think there are definitely some stipulations on the chipmunk striping and breed thing. But my OEGB is a BB Red, and she had thick eyeliner and a very pronounced stripe on her back, and she's all girl. I'm still very new to chickens and I know there is a lot that goes into genetics, but that's my experience in this area.

you are so welcome do have any more photos of the little guy. idk but it looks like his base color is going to be a sort of muted mauvey gray since the the white is technically silver which dilutes gold which partridge is a type of gold so i suspect the chick is going to be a splashy mauve pattern. could you post pictures as the little one grows

possibley somethign like this but with some red spots ofc its not gonna look like a cochin but this is what im talking about color wise

The wee guy actually turned out to be a dark chipmunk colour! Super cute, dad’s genes are clearly running strong (it’s even got an extra toe from all those silkie genes)
I’ll let you both win because you guys participated hahahah😭
Feel free to comment a pic of one of your chooks and I’ll make a wee drawing for you both - can’t guarantee they’ll be done super quickly as I’m currently bashing out an art final!

Such a cute baby! I never would have guessed a color that dark!

Here's a pic of my hen glowing in the sunset lol Take all the time you need.

Hi all - thought I’d give a wee update

There was another egg that I found in the clutch with haymitch up there, so I put it in the incubator, not expecting it to hatch as it’d been left cold for a while. Moreso i could confirm if it was a dud then dispose of it in due time.
Got back home last night after being out all day with the intention to candle the egg once more then chuck it if it was a dud - and I heard chirping!

The wee guy had hatched, a much lighter colour than his sibling, and with abnormally large back toes? I’ve linked a picture - it’s so strange.

He's so cute!
I've seen toes like that once before, on a Legbar-Faverolles mix. It has something to do with only having one fifth tog gene. I always thought it was cool because they were more functional that the typical fifth toes by being able grab with them.

heyyyy that kind of looks like my first prediction

Sorry for the late response - here they are!! The older chick is now over 5 weeks old and the younger one is about 4.5. I’m beginning to consider their sex - hoping for two hens but I can’t be sure! They’ve got some lovely colours coming through, the older one has an almost cream-legbar look about it! I’ll hopefully upload those wee drawings tonignt btw x
