Mystery solved, it's either a group of black squirrels or a few persistent squirrels that either love the stain on the coop or want to chew their way inside. Saw one hanging on the wall of the coop this morning. I can't believe that they want the food inside the coop because we have cattle and a lot of feed available for them to eat. So much more recent damage to the coop too.

Mix up some hot pepper spray and soak the spots they've been chewing on.

Thanks to all who responded. I'm going to try spraying pepper spray on the siding but hoping for a feral cat that hates squirrels (that one made me LOL!).

Sadly, no

I knew someone who had a Jack Russel Terrier. That dog would dig until he came up with a mole. The lawn looked awful but it was mole free

Seems like a good time to set some squirrel traps and reduce the population.

We get so many squirrels around here and they are destructive. I put out a bait pile and shoot them. I have a great vantage point from my back porch and haven't missed one yet. I also have several game cameras up around on my property especially for the nighttime when the predators roam here. Good luck...
