What could be wrong with my Orpington - big "butt bump"?

Thank you for the update, and it is good to know that your vet felt like it was a hernia. I would keep a close eye on it for any injury or worsening. I have had several with those enlarged bellies from one reason or another. We just had another BYCer last week whose hen had one of those swollen bellies, that had gotten injured and ripped open, exposing her organs. Unfortunately she had to euthanize her hen, since it was not treatable:

Thanks for letting me know. We definitely always keep an eye on it. And fingers crossed, has been okay so far.

Thank you so much for keeping up as updated. We depend so much on one another and being our own advocates for our health, and the health of our animals! We could not do it alone we need each other hour yoa least I feel I need you! BYC has been such a great life source! I would be completely lost without you all!

I've heard that hernias can be life-threatening so I'm so glad yours is doing so well! God bless our animals and out attempts to live a health back to the earth life!
