What did you do in the garden today?

But it looks like I get a day off Tomorrow and when I went to visit my mom they other day she picked up a kiwi berry plant she found on sale. So I can plant it tomorrow. I’ve never heard ofI’ve this type of kiwi but seems awesome They are supposed to be a little sweeter than they fuzzy one and they are a little larger then a grape.. like snack size with smooth skin. Grows on vines that can get up to 20’ if you let it so need to trellis. My garden seems to be a village of trellises this year. Anyone ever grow these?

I made a simple spray from cayenne powder, dawn, and water. I steeped the cayenne for a few minutes, then strained it through a coffee filter before adding it to the spray bottle. It seems to have helped. Usually I have a new casualty bean plant every morning, but found no new plant eating evidence. Maybe it'll work without spraying the little buggers, which is good because I can't catch them in the act.

I cannot grow kale without row covers in the spring ever. It gets attacked by about four different types of caterpillars and I get one good harvest and the bugs get the rest. So bro covers this year for sure. No bugs are eating it but the heat is really messing with it. It’s not looking good. I probably should have picked a more heat tolerant variety. At least I have more seeds so I can try them again in the fall if it stays stinking hot like it is. And it seems that way it’s going to be a high of 96° tomorrow

Actually when I woke up today and did my garden check I did see two of them. They are Beatles. I’m going to hit them with some soap spray but I’m going to do the Kiam pepper thing too. Thank you for the suggestion. It sounds a lot like what my coworker makes to keep the mice out of his garden. And he has a very cool trick to keep moles out because he says the cayenne pepper spray does not work for those malls I’m so glad that I don’t have to deal with tons of rodents trying to take my produce. Listening to his stories makes me appreciate my cats more than ever

But my Daliah bloomed. And then Romeo took care of the last of the few pesky Daffidil’s that are left that were hanging out in the shady spot:rolleyes: As you can see he is very proud of his work. He is lucky he’s so charming

Toole??? I know lazy gardener suggested window sheers as row covers. I am going to try that one Day but I had already ordered the insect cover When it was suggested. But the only way I’ve found to keep those things off is to just cover them. I wore myself out trying to pick and find different solutions. I probably limit myself since I don’t like to use chemical pesticides. But the cover send to work well so far
