What did you do in the garden today?

Weeded a little, chickens got some nice greens. Tried to fix the leaky bucket that serves as a reservoir for my watering system. it leaks around the place where the PVC goes into the bucket. I used silicone, but that didn't work, so today, I tried some waterproof epoxy putty. we'll see what happens. Watered everything. Let some of the baby chicks out to play. They were cute. One caught a spider and ate it. The dog watched them. I am wary of him. I don't think he will hurt them intentionally, but then again, I don't want them hurt for any reason. They are still a little small to go into the chicken tractor, but they will have to by this weekend. The new chicks will hatch Thursday (fingers crossed) and they will have to go into the brooder. The brooder has a way to divide it in half, I may put the larger ones in the tractor and keep the little ones in the big half of the brooder.

RRRRRRR. Some idiot (probably the one that fed the chicks, ME) left the top off the barrel of chick starter. It POURED RAIN last night, so I have a quarter bag of a soggy mess. Can I feed it to them anyway?

Yes it can be fed . Try to get it fed before it gets too sour . You may have to add a little more dry feed if it is soupy . I sometimes feed wet on purpose to cut down on waste . Fermented feed has its own thread .

didn't do much so far today watered my tomatoes that are in pots. I need to get them in the garden but seems like when i get the time the weather doesn't want to cooperate. but my pole beans are a couple inches high and carrots seem to be growing pretty good. i did plant some of my patio tomatoes in their pots the other day. and most of my jalapenos that are growing in containers are coming along fairly well.

Managed to water today before it gets too hot (100 in California today!). I transplanted seedling corn last night. I might work on a frame so I can grow greens for the chickens and keep them off it while everything grows.

Cchick how close to the fire are you? 75* is perfect temp for this New Englander.
Mister B. could portion freeze it. Had do it last summer do to humidity molding rabbit pellets even with DE added.

Bought and planted tomato and pepper plants . Took cutting from tomatoes and peppers. Mowed the lawn and picked asparagus and poke . Chilly and cloudy today .
