What did you do in the garden today?

OK if I went out and bought a 50 pound bag of black oil sunflower birdseed and wanted to plant it, it wouldn't grow.

But go and accidentally spill 3 cups of scratch with BOS in it that mice stashed in the post hole pounder in the new garden, and I have seed coming up everywhere it spilled! D'OH!

Sounds like me and sweet potatoes. Planted them. Got some big foliage, no potatoes. Duh them up, tossed them in the compost pile. They came back in the bed. Fine. I dug the soil up, tossed it between my beds on a swale. I'm getting ginormous potatoes from my walkway. Can't win for losing.

had planned to plant this weekend. but expecting more bad weather tonight and tomorrow, and then 4 inches of rain between now and tuesday. I should just grow watercress this year and be done with it. Everything is going in the ground when the rain stops. Period.

Dill will be planted. ANd I have some direct seeding to do of a couple of other things.

Good morning gardeners. Yesterday was not a gardening day. It pretty much rained all day. I need to do some shopping today then plan on getting everything else in the dirt except the squash. The sun came out early yesterday evening and no rain is forecasted until Monday. So mowing is on the agenda for Sunday and Monday. With the rain from yesterday all the stuff I planted is looking perky. Happy gardening!

Schmoozing the local worm farm down the road this morning into buying some of our black gold alpaca poo. Gold in, gold out.

I'd be happy with a trade too. I have more than I can use, and the locals here seem confused by it. They're used to their big box store bag of 98 cent cow flop.

A lot of that done here.

Good morning gardeners :frow

Couple snaps of the baby hummingbirds. These were taken the afternoon before they left the nest.

I'm working today but I've been out to feed and water the flocks and coveys already. Caught a few more pigeons in the mini coop yesterday afternoon, one was a repeat offender so I left them locked in for a while, then chased them out with a broom. I didn't see the repeat offender on the roof this morning so hopefully they've learned a lesson.

It's a full moon so tonight I'll be doing bird maintenance...checks for bugs and a coat of cod liver oil on their shanks to keep their scales in good condition.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
