I'm guessing that the green leaves are mint,,,, :idunno But no clue what those purple ones are:he
Purple basil, not a lot, my youngest thought it was a good idea, we taste tested after the food processor and was pretty good.

Good morning gardeners. Hope everyone made it through yet another night of severe weather. The weather here has been pretty spectacular for a change. Yesterday was a bit warm with temps in the mid-80s. Yesterday I spent some time with my peach tree and one of my apple trees. I covered the area surrounding the base of them with mulch and edging. It looks good. Hopefully they will be large enough to produce fruit next year. The peach tree was covered with tiny peaches so I removed them. Nothing on the one apple tree but I suspect the other will be trying to push out some apples. I planted some Portulaca plants at the base of my mailbox. I was thrilled to find them in New England. They do really well in the hot summer sun. This morning I noticed my yellow crook neck squash plant is pushing through the soil. I had given up on it and have replacement plants on standby. All but two of my pole bean seeds have germinated from the first planting. I hope to get a lot of them this year. Today is laundry day so aside from that I plan on taking it easy. Perhaps I'll take some pictures to share. Have a great day everyone and happy gardening.

another 2.46 inches of rain last night. One strike of lightning was within 100 yards of the house. About shot me out of bed ! LOL.

more severe weather tonight and tomorrow. I WILL be planting the garden on Wednesday, and cleaning the barn. Shearing team comes Friday !!!! whoot!

I do a little plant breeding . I have a seedling blackberry that needs a pollinator . Most self pollinate but there are exceptions . So this year the bloom times overlapped . I will get to try the fruit for the fist time plus have seed from the cross . Pollen donor - raspberry .

Went to the cemetery for Memorial Services. It’s a climb the graveyard is steep.
Looks like we might catch a break in weather this current storm doesn’t have much of a punch but it rained all last night.
My snapdragons have started to bloom in all three flower beds. I’m happy to see my re-seeds have taken.
Happy Memorial Day to all.
...........Never Forget........

Awsome! I use little sable paintbrushes to help pollinate. Mellon’s, squashes or whatever ~ works great and it’s quick & easy.
