I used string last year and when the beans finally started they became a monstrous jumble. This year I have 4 bamboo towers each with 4 legs for them to climb. I will likely add some bamboo sticks across them for additional climbing space. Here's a shot of last years garden in early July. I'll take pictures of this year's once the beans are climbing. The beans are in the left corner.Good to know @Wee Farmer Sarah. I’ll let them keep growing, and figure at some point (if they really are pole beans), they will suddenly take off and grow like gangbusters. Of course I still have one more piece of wood and associated string to put up for support, so need to get that done. I’ve just used jute twine in a vertical or angled vertical position, attached to tall wood frames.

6 feet is too tall for me . Remember I’m Wee Farmer Sarah, LoL! My pole beans are stringless green beans.Nice! I see what you mean though! I’ll take a pic of my setup. I think the structure is about 6 feet tall, so hopefully ok. My pole beans are for drying, so hoping they will get enough airflow.
