What did you do in the garden today?

Can you show picture of the pot?

Yes, if you can tell me what I am doing wrong, or not doing, I would appreciate it. The top of the plant looks great, but it is dying from the bottom up. It is in a grow bag.

It looks like you need to harvest the peas. After the plant matures to the point it is not producing new peas, it will start to die off. Just normal. Peas are more of an early spring plant. In your area pea season is about over. You didn't do anything wrong, that's just the nature of the plant. You have a few left on the plant, just pick them and toss them in a stir fry. Enjoy! :frow Oh, and do compost the vines. They are full of nitrogen.

The lot across the road from us has contractors building a house. Apparently their well diggers they chose to use are inept, because they knocked out our power this morning. My husband said they did not call and have the lines marked, which they are required to do, so it is going to get messy. Our power lines are buried. The power company people came out and are MAD. They were yelling at the well digging company. They told us that power will be out all day, at the least.

So no water, as we have an electric well pump. Garage door is electric, and we haven't gotten around to fixing the chain for the manual release. Last time we tried it, it fell and the garage door broke. Now we have a brand new garage door, so I am not going to attempt to open it. Luckily hubby parked outside, so he was able to go to work.
No air conditioning...and today is going to be sunny for once! Ugh.

Stuck at home with two kids, with no water, no power, and we live too far out to walk anywhere.

Sorry about that. Do you have a generator bc can at least use that to get some power to a few things.

I worked at a large manufacturing plant years ago (so had BIG underground power cables to feed the plant from main line). Some new build was occurring closer to the main road, and not sure how this happened without loss of life, but that build company cut/damaged that BIG power line. A good portion of our company was out of power for 1.5 days bc underground line so big/powerful that the local power company couldn’t repair -had to bring in the big equipment from elsewhere. And yes, that power company was mad, and my company was mad (limited production). I hope this is a quick fix for you and it’s back on by tomorrow morning!

Roofers banging away on the roof, racing the rain.
Fox snatched one of my hens last evening, but didn't get away with her.Fox ran off with her through the alpaca field, so I didn't have clear shot. Alpaca scared it and it dropped Cinderella, who hobbled and flopped her way back up to me, where she collapsed. I had to put her down. She is now in the trap.

This old fox is a serious pest. Multiple visits a night, any time of day, and has killed numerous hens and ducks all over the valley. She has no fear of people, and is smart as a ...well....fox. She is very individually marked, so we know it's her. Here she is just trying to figure out how to get to the bait without getting trapped herself. 4 trips to the coop last night alone (she can't get in, but she sure tries) Yes, she's sitting in a giant pile of feathers from her strike earlier in the day.

It's not for lack of food, she just prefers shopping at the local markets instead of hunting.

Anyway....haven't been to the garden yet today. I need to put up a deer fence around the melons as the deer are tripping on the irrigation lines. I put a few seeds in where the original plants died. I'll weed tomorrow.

Sorry about Cinderella and having to put her down. That fox must be very experienced! Craft and confident...just what you DON'T need. Good luck with catching her.

I feel for you without power, we've been in the same boat on some hot days. There's a pretty big cross road a mile or so down from us and I don't know what the deal was, but for about a year there would be a wreck every other weekend, you can still drive by and see the twisted mess of the third guard rail they put up at the top of a hill. But everytime someone crashed, they took out the main power line in our direction. Hot days, miserable kids and animals, we only have ingredients, so forage for what you can and go buy a couple gallon jugs of water. I don't know how they fixed that issue, aside from enormous stop signs at the cross, but hasn't happened in a while. Knock on wood.
I'm so glad we don't have foxes, they're supposedly common in our area, but I think the coyotes keep them down here. Chicken pen is dog and raccoon proof, so no luck for the coyotes either. Having a huge dog cut down on wildlife sightings though.
