What did you do in the garden today?

I'm hoping to get compost soon for my raised garden beds. We are also looking at getting gutters installed!

I'm saving seed from store bought fruit and veggies to get started! I also bought some seed and will probably buy a few plants.

Pole beans, squash, pumpkins, cukes, melons. Basically, anything that can be trellised will save you some ground space to make your garden more compact. Check out cattle panels. They are the ultimate in trellis material that will never wear out. With the right configuration, they will stand with minimal support, are wind proof, and once you have a few lengths of cattle panel available, you'll find so many uses for them that you won't know how you ever lived without them!!!

try some local restaurants and offer to supply a few 5 gallon buckets for their vegetable waste from prep. I collect 8 or so buckets a week from one place here.
I'm actually lucky in that my city provides it free. I just have to bring buckets, bags, etc and pick it up!

I also do vermicomposting. Right now my set up is very basic and pretty ugly but if you click on my link you will see I have future plans that look MUCH better. I just have to wait to do them until I have french drains otherwise I'd worry that they would get flooded, and I have to do them away from the house (in case water enters and stands there).
