What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. I noticed two new posters, so welcome to the thread. As mentioned in an earlier post, I got the email yesterday evening that the Senior Center is now closed. I knew it was coming. Oh well. So I got on Amazon and ordered another exercise video so I can keep up with my exercise regimen. While on Amazon I ordered some poblano seeds. I also checked with the garden supply center and they will be open and have my garden dirt for me at the end of the month. Interesting though, while I was on their website I actually read all the information regarding the dirt I bought last year. I thought I was buying fill dirt, but apparently their recipe for loam is actually a healthy garden mix. So I'm thinking the issues I had with my garden last year was me screwing up their already fine garden soil. Lesson learned. I will definitely test the new batch when it arrives. I did my re-arranging in the sunroom yesterday and have another mini greenhouse dome set up for seed starting. I know I need to start the gourds. There are a few herbs I want to start now as well, and I think starting a few flowers would be nice. If the winds stay calm today, I'll try to get two more garden beds cleaned up. One will be designated as the hoop bed. I'd like to get that set up so the dirt can warm up before I plant it. Love the pictures as always @TropicalBabies, thank you. I did cut some branches from my forsythias yesterday to bloom indoors. I hope the bushes in the yard survive the freeze that's coming. Have a great day everyone and stay healthy!

OK sewed to finish last night at 1145. 16 dressed 14 gardening aprons, plus I have pillowcases and alpaca yarn, honey and fresh farm eggs. PLUS I made a gorgeous display stand so I don't have to rely on others when I go places for my stuff.

It snowed last night. 4.5 inches of the heavy wet stuff. I'm stuck here. PLOWING all day. Grumble.

DS has decided to stay on campus. DH works there too so I'm not worried a bit. DS's room mates were packing to leave last night and DS was helping them clean and took my last two rolls of papertowels to clean when the room mates are gone so his apartment is only germs from here on out. SO that meant I had to stop and get towels on the way home. OMG! EMPTY the store was like locusts had hit. The manager said it happened when the states of emergency were issued, which doesn't mean anything has changed at ALL, it just frees up resources and money!

Those of us there had a hoot, swapping stories, and walking in awe at bare shelves. Manager said everyone behaved though. Weird crap gone too. EVERY bottle of ketchup! EVERY bottle. That display shelf must be 6 feet long 4 feet deep and three shelves of KETCHUP!

On a brighter note. I did get the wisteria twig I bought into some soil. Mold soil gave me one hell of a sinus headache for a day. Mercy.

Day lillies are now under full spectrum LED lights instead of the Red/Blue/White combo I had them under. I swear they've shot up another 3 inches over night!

Ok out to plow.

Good morning gardeners. We have a beautiful blue sky today and it's a wee chilly. We should dry out for a few days before we get more rain midweek. I checked the rain gauge this morning, 2.75". I know for many of you that isn't much but it's a lot for us! We picked up the lumber and blocks for the new garden space last night but it's too wet to work on any of that today so I'm cleaning house and pulling more weeds in the front yard. Have a great day everyone!

Snow this morning. Supposed to get only 0.5” total, but have 1.5” at least of the big, fat, fluffy type of snow and it’s still snowing. I think it’s going to rain, though, so it will be gone.

still hunting for sulfur amendment. I could overpay for small bags at one place, but no one has larger bags yet. well, at least I have time to get some and till it in.

We have 3 males: all cockerels at 11 months (1), and 8 months (2). The younger males, particularly one of them, are just way over mating nearly every hen/pullet that they can. Missing feathers, etc. Kid wants to show them at fair, so we need to separate them. As it turns out, the compost bin project (now finished) will house them in separate pens. As we only have 1 pile of compost, they will get the next two bins until fair time in a few months. We will give them a solid top, and will put up a gate front. Each section of the compost piles are 6’x4’ so they will have ample room to move. Also we will add several more perches throughout the run. They already have some, but now every hen/pullet can sit on a perch when they want and not get mated numerous times a day. The 11 month old has been a good cockerel, he stays out of our way so far and reprimands the younger males, but he can’t be everywhere all the time. Hopefully this works, and the feathers grow back in on those missing feathers.
