What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. I hope you are all well. It's nice to hear from you @TropicalBabies. No gardening yesterday. I'm waiting for the snow to melt. LOL! However, big excitement. When I went into the garage to get another bag of stove pellets I noticed that my fig tree is budding and starting to push out some leaves. I think it's time to roll it outside and soak up some UV rays. My existing plant seedlings are standing tall this morning and some are starting to develop their secondary leaves. I want to wait until they do have the secondary leaves before putting them in a larger pot. Also, finally the bell pepper seeds are germinating and starting to push through the soil. The snow melted out of my driveway and I was able to make a break for "Senior Shopping Hour" at the nearby grocery store. I don't normally buy a lot there because their prices and their customer service normally stinks. I suspect they aren't cleaning the store like they used to because I always have a reaction to their cleaning products when I go in there. No reaction today. That concerns me. But it is what it is. The only paper available were the cheap store brand paper towels. I grabbed 2 rolls. I still have TP, so I can use these for my allergy nose and napkins and leave the septic safe TP on hand for what it is designed for. I was able to get juice, yogurt, coffee creamer, garbage bags and pork chops. Oooh, and bacon! I was amazed that there was absolutely no flour except gluten free products and cake mixes. OMG I never knew that many people in my area actually bake. Back to gardening now. It will likely be several days before I can resume filling the new garden bed since the ground is super soggy. I will try to get the plastic up on the hoop garden. The drainage in the main garden area is very good so I shouldn't get stuck in mud while working in there. Have a great day every.
They probably don't bake regularly but you can learn almost anything on youtube. Plus flour, sugar, salt, etc are basic staples that make a wide variety of things most people eat regularly.

My neighbor found flour today so she's bringing me a 10# bag. That's a load off my mind!

I had to go to the bank to deposit a check this morning. I tried to do it online but it wasn’t working. After taking care of that I noticed the parking lot wasn’t all that busy at my regular grocery store. I said “what the he** and went in I’m so glad I did. I was able to get the butter I couldn’t find at the other store. They actually had laundry detergent, baking powder, FLOUR, and RIBS! I was so happy I went inside. They were out of TP and paper towels, however they did have Kleenex and paper napkins. I was kind of surprised that people weren’t taking all the tonic water. It does contain quinine. LOL! So I’m finally having a stellar day.

How long did your bell peppers take to sprout?

Raintree Nursery trees arrived today.
I paid extra for 4-5 foot trees, over 100$ extra total. My tallest is 40 inches and shortest is 30 inches.
CS didn't know what I was asking when I asked how they measure their trees. SHE SHOULD it's a plant nursery. When she came back she said the HEIGHT of the tree included the ROOT system. SNORT. I guess there trees FLOAT above ground.

Never again.

I'm glad it is not only me who has s l o w to rise bells. Mine were usually weeks behind any of my other seedlings and we have some pretty darn awesome growing conditions. I finally quit growing them thinking maybe it's just too hot and not wanting to put up with their fussiness and lack of product vs space. I switched to a Anaheim Pepper that is W A A A Y more quick to rise with plenty fruit and stays around for the long haul, super pretty too. A bit different pepper but great in eggs, salads, pizzas just the same:jumpy

Planted onions seeds late. Peppers, egg plant and a few other things i can not remember. Thought I would... lol :gigwhen will I learn to label??!!
Chickens are rambunctious today. Yesterday I got only 1 egg. Almost thought I got robbed because I usually get 7 on average. So, today everyone is acting like they are pooping their pants and fighting over nest boxes and Augustus is joining in adding to the ruckus... :thembarrassing.

We dropped the 2 roo's at the pasture the other morning. Oh boy such happy boys. They look magnificent and will certainly add joy to that spot of the island. They have MANY girlfriends and few rivals. I don't think i have ever seen happier roosters and I hope they do very well there.

Reminds me of the days when Mr Biggles was standing guard there. He made some pretty babies.
Speaking of which, Rosie (Biggles baby) has one more week till she emerges from her hidden nest with her little surprises. I may do better selling chicks or chickens than eggs. Think I will do both.
I captured baby Gus a buddy from a hen who abandoned her brood.

New baby has feathered feet- that Gus is really something...- It took a few days of intense care but now all is well. Baby Gus's separation anxiety has calmed wonderfully because of his new friend. I can now get chores done.
Have a great day all. I hope you all get your nails dirty and some sun on your faces today. Stay well!!!! :love Aloha!
