What did you do in the garden today?

Evening gardeners. Haven't done much outside, it has been windy and allergies have me on breathing treatments. Hubs harvested a couple artichokes today, we had them for dinner. We got some weeds pulled outside the wall surrounding our backyard and that's about it. Here's a couple snaps, have a great night

Where are you located? I started some artichokes from seed last year and mine haven't started coming up yet. I can see the foliage there still just hasn't started sprouting yet. I don't know what to expect.

I hear ya... but lightly fried egg plant is not THAT bad. Grilled or w/ a little marinara and mozzarella or in a lasagna, w/ eggs or in a soup a body can get used to it and even enjoy. I like to give away when I can but a lot of my friends don't eat fruit from the nightshade or belladonna family. I personally am not that picky.
Eggplant is one of my favourites! In fact, I need to start my Japanese seeds soon! Anyways, the trick with eggplant (before cooking it) is to peel it beforehand, and then salt it, as the skin is very bitter and turns a lot of people away from it. But you can make sammys out of it; vegetarian versions of lasagna, baked ziti, calzones, ratatouille, roulades ,moussaka, chii; and just good 'ole stir-fry and eggplant parmesan. It also freezes well if you get it peeled and salted quickly and partition. I had to do that last week with one that was going south but I could still save. Ha!

I'm in Phoenix AZ. My plants weren't from seed but starts at the nursery. They came up in fall and just bloomed a short time ago.

So the snow pretty much melted and I started to work on cleaning out the greenhouse. The ladies and gents have been shacking up there since November (to cold for them to hideout and/or sleep in their spring/summer coop) so its going to be a BIG project. I also found 2 seed pads that I forgot about. We have plumbing (our sink) and a light in there but I forgot about the pads!! Think I'll bring them (the pads) inside and start more seeds on our balcony upstairs which is enclosed. I have lettuce, strawberries, celery, sunflowers, goldenrod, chamomile, and hollyhocks going on so maybe I'll try my pepper and eggplant seeds on the pads.

Btw: does anyone know what this creature is? It's growing next to one of my parsley plants?!?

Praying for more sunshine tomorrow...today was just the beginning of a major overhaul. Never thought I'd be using a greenhouse as a chicken coop. I hope they understand that sacrifice I made...hahaha!!!

What's your preferred way to prepare them?

Look what sprouted ! I mean hatched at my house!!
Hoping at least a couple more will hatch tonight or tomorrow. I think there are 4 more in the incubator.
I'm so eggscited for you Karen! Do you know what breed that first one might be? I see the middle stripe and perhaps 'eye liner' (??) which always makes me think of araucana or ameraucana. Or who knows? I overthink things...

Usually just put in the pressure cooker whole. These were small so I put them in about 1/2" of water in a saucepan and simmered covered. Sprinkle with garlic and onion powder, a little salt. Serve with mayo. They were perfect!
