What did you do in the garden today?

Has anyone used wooden pallets for their veggie garden?? I wanted to try some this year... would love to hear likes and dislikes 😊
I used them for the bottom of my boxes when I had them raised, knowing it was temporary because they would rot being on the bottom of a box. I think it is a great, cost effective wood but very labor intensive to take apart pallets. Always look for HT as i am sure you know :D

Out our old house I built a cabinet greenhouse the size of a small armoire. I cut the planks for pallets into sections about 12" long and used them for the shelves. It was really nice actually, but didn't make the move. Here's a photo I took before I added doors and vinyl:

My 15 year old Husqvarna VIking sewing machine just died. ARGH!
Right in the middle of EVERYTHING!

The computer control system blew. I swear.

I am so sorry I have my 1928 white and my 1946 little green machine Husqvarna Viking 21A.. last one made in Sweden I would be lost without without them

I dont have anything that old but I have a 1982 kenmore that i rely on and a 2000 singer thats fairly new I'm iffy on. My parts are on backorder so I can't work with her yet. If my kenmore crapped out I would be devastated

Everything I’m (hopefully) growing this year. Might try broccoli or something too but not sure. Have the seeds but just not sure if I want to. Also not sure if I’ll open both things of the Chard. Probably not haha and not sure I want to grow so many tomatoes considering we don’t normally eat that many but they’re open so feel like I should use them. Idk. Putting it in a spoiler because there’s so many pictures 😂🙈

Freeze warning last night, so the strawberries got covered up. Tonight there will be another freeze warning, with temps possibly as low as the upper 20s.

Did not actually do anything in the garden yesterday. But the kid and I constructed a feeder for the cockerel’s pen. I called three feed stores, and they were all out of hanging feeders (except very large ones). So, a square cornstarch container with a plastic lunch meat container have created the feeder and tray, a few bits of wood for stability, and old shoelace for hanging from a hook.

sorry about your sewing machine @WthrLady! I recently purchased a computerized machine (my first), but also have a high speed, straight stitch only machine. For the masks I went to the straight stitch machine bc it has more power to deal with the overlapping pleats and to do it fast. I hope you can get it fixed. The local shop here is still taking machines for repairs, you leave it at their door with a tag and form filled out, after calling ahead.

Good morning gardeners. The rain finally ended yesterday evening. Now the winds are really kicking up. I took my dahlia tubers out of the box of sand and they look pretty dry. They weren't crumbly, so I put them in a bag with damp potting soil and hopefully they will be OK. I think the most I may get accomplished outside today is to grab some garden dirt to do another test. We may get scattered showers later but it's looking like we might get some dry, cool weather for a couple of days. I just really wish the temps would bump up another 5 degrees or more. In the meantime, I'll just have to be content with taking care of my seedlings indoors. I really admire your construction skills @BReeder!. Your "greenhouse" frame looks really good. Have a great day everyone.
