What did you do in the garden today?

Thankfully, my potatoes do not have neighbor’s potato bugs ...yet. However, he was out early spraying them with sevin (my guess bc he mentioned he had Sevin dust). So, will be keeping an eye out.

baby chicks that we kept are cute and healthy. Hopefully will move them out of house to the barn today.

I bought an ice cream sandwich pan set - so just baked brownies in the pans. Once I get them cooled, can place the mold and add ice cream , then seal and freeze! Hopefully works like it’s supposed to and we have brownie ice cream sandwiches later!

Would you be so kind as to post pictures of the Ice cream sammie pan set? My interest is piqued.

Also interested in hearing about your results, so be sure to taste test an extra one. I would load one with mint chocolate chip, and, and, and......:drool

here they are. Pampered chef item. A friend just held a party and this was my fun item to purchase.

The three pieces store together -the silicone pans grab the entire edges of the insert, so really nice that they tuck easily into the ca

Aloha gang,
Nice and cloudy with slight sprinkles. Temps should reach at least 85.
Got the weeds pulled in my tomato bed and then added a good topping of composted horse poop that I will dig in today or tomorrow after chickens play a bit more. Then I need to rework cage. After I will plant the Heilani starts that are almost a foot tall now, good, then I can bury them deeper ;) . Maybe the last thing i plant for a few months. I also have plenty of poop to top off rest of boxes etc. Very nice.

Cleared back deck and getting ready to FINALLY start working on refinishing it. Not looking forward to doing it in the summer heat so i'll probably just work on when sun has passed like anytime after 12+ noon.

Sold one more chick to a gal (who I had kinda forgotten about... 😬 ) till I sexed them. I sold it for $10 and she had to drive an hour to get to me, poor thing. Certainly a super nice and sweet gal. Selling for less would be taking a loss for sure.

I let babies play in the caged garden box last two days. So fun to see their reactions go from scared and overwhelmed to just... fuzzy popcorn fun. They are not big enough to do any real damage yet and it would be worth it if they did.
I only have one roo out of this lot. Can ya'll guess which one?

lol, the one that looks hen pecked already.

Getting ready to play musical coops and brooder and switch the feathered gang around... again, just counting the hours now.

Have a great day all! Stay safe and dirty. 👩‍🌾 👨‍🌾 🌾🌱🌾

Good afternoon all. I was out before the sun was up to water this morning. It was cool and pleasant and this afternoon it's a bit windy. Got the grass cut and the edges whacked, then wet down the compost barrels and turned them. The chickens are slowly working on the piles of dirt I left yesterday, they're so industrious. I've decided not to plant grass right now, temperatures are too warm and it would be a waste. Took the pups to the park and ran some errands after, then put new shelf paper in a few kitchen cabinets, purged some junk and rearranged things. Tomorrow will be more cleaning and purging. I'm thinking about painting the kitchen next week.

Another hellishly hot and humid day. over 100 with the humidity. The winds were howling at over 40 today too.

It was mowing day, so 4 hours in the sun. Even with multiple sunscreen applications, I'm toast and my eyes are on fire from all the pollen and dust in the air.

I replaced all the viral tomatoes last night. I will get the loofas in the ground probably on wednesday.

I ordered a 4 foot tall windscreen for around the garden to slow it down some. It will also make it more sultry, which the tomatoes will LOVE.

One more day of eye melting heat and humidity, then storms (I will fertilize the trees before that rain, and then back to normal temps.

Chicks were fighting over something in the pen. I thought they managed to catch a large cricket. They were fighting over a large clover DS had given them. LOL.

They love clover, like little sugar pops.

I was amazed at how much they love clover. All the clover that was flourishing in the run and under the coop is long since gone. DP's clover bed was a great idea, we trim the top inch or so and have to scatter it in the run or there's a riot.

Please, tell us about the pictures!
I live in Northern Minnesota. The little greenhouse is for my peppers and tomatoes. Last year June was really cold and they didn't do well.

the garden is 24X24. We moved onto our new land May 11. I'm using staw to kill the grass and have 5 yards of dirt trucked in. I'm not as far as I would like to be at this point but I can only do the best I can. This is where i'm at- my squash and cucumber trellises are in.
