What did you do in the garden today?

Yes, a little... Douglas is moving pretty quick @16 mph and is supposed increase speed and run into some cooler waters as it spins off from the TCZ, forecasters have it headed towards the BI. If it holds that course and hits the pu'u's of Mauna Kea and/or Loa, those craters will give it the ol 1,2 and we will be lucky to get rain. Unless it turns up of course... lol I usually watch more carefully in August and September and worry more around 145 and 15.
As an ex-sailor and waterwoman it's in my blood to pay attention ;) also a darn good habit and very interesting... I have had my butt handed to me a few times and not looking forward to the next.
Would love to hear your thoughts as you are @WthrLady :D and may see something I don't...???
Happily, I don't do tropical weather anymore :D Move toooooo slowly for my attention span. Plus I don't work in Florida anymore. HA!

Like everyday I eat from my garden. Farm fresh to table. Today I had a nice piece of halibut ( I Buy my halibut from a fish company in Alaska )on mashed purple potatoes that I dug up yesterday and sautéed zucchini harvested today, this evening I’ll enjoy black berries I harvested just now on some vanilla ice cream.

If you have an ice cream plant, please share. ;)

You are amazing, @penny1960. Armadillo eggs sound fun.

What are the spiky things, @igorsMistress? Garden looks good!

You ought to be good, @Sueby. Granted, it is 2020 and a winter might begin next week, but...

No doubt about that, @Compost King! My garden is looking forward to that.

Thanks @NewBoots! Dominique (which I've wanted since the idea of our own flock got into my head), Black Australorp, and Easter Eggers (Hubby's choice and they're adorable). The veggies look wonderful! You are so right about tying up tomatoes...

Happy gardening!

Okay recipe for those that like spice can be used many ways
Armadillo Eggs

Ingredients

24 jalapeno peppers

1 pound sausage

2 cups all-purpose baking mix

1 (16 ounce) package Cheddar cheese, shredded

1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes

1 tablespoon garlic salt

1 (16 ounce) package Monterey Jack cheese, cubed

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a medium baking sheet.

Cut a slit in each jalapeno pepper. Remove and discard seeds and pulp.

In a medium bowl, mix sausage, baking mix, Cheddar cheese, crushed red pepper, and garlic salt.

Stuff jalapenos with the Monterey Jack cheese cubes. Shape sausage mixture around the jalapenos to form balls.

Arrange jalapeno balls on the prepared baking sheet. Bake 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly browned.

Depends on the picture. The first pic is TX sage, there's aloe and then these things that don't have many leaves but are coming back that are mexican poppies.

Picked another cucumber and a couple of cherry tomatoes. Pulled out some more sunflowers and gave them to the chickens.
my hubby caught our 2 puppies eating one of my pullets this evening. 😢😡. I guess it got out into the dog yard and couldn’t get back into the chicken yard before the puppies got it. There was only half of it left when he found them. 😢

Okay, it must be the aloe. They look sort of alien in their current state (in a cool way). :)

:lau yes they do! I just plopped them in the ground last year but that area has a slope so when I watered they lived but struggled. The hay helps keep the soil temps more moderate and the logs help stop runoff.

I just took some garden pictures after watering my peppers. I used to water every other day but now I water peppers everyday, I had one go limp and I thought it might have died but watered before bed and it seems happy this morning. Peppers have amazing recovery skills.

Leathery Cayenne Pepper harvested for saving seeds. Might have Hybrid Seeds but likely not due to it being an early pepper before other pepper plants were flowering.
