What did you do in the garden today?

I went back outside to work until sundown because I wanted to finish the back wall.

2ft on the left is a permanent wall, the top has boards laid out vertically because I plan to keep that small section. The rest of the top is horizontal because its only up for a year so I did not care how tacky it looks. That left side is where I have my passive vent.

this last picture is a demo of the passive vent before it was finished, I forgot to take a picture of the door open after it was finished.

Looking great!

Cut the grass, pulled weeds, laid mulch, tilled soil, cleared brush... the work doesn't stop and it's fruitless until next summer. I'm getting ready for winter. The weather is changing and I am just trying to get things done while I can still bare the temps. It's already 40s here at night. 60 during the day is a good day now.

Oh got that right.. We had the smoke here fires in California smoke was thick
We had masks on the entire time did not go out think it led to demise of at least one silkie
I made smoke here... I thought somebody was going to call the fire department. I put fresh cut logs and pine branches in the fire pit the other day and it smoked like crazy. The cool, damp weather kept the smoke low. I couldn't see across the street when I went out front to see how bad the smoke looked. It only lasted 20-30 minutes and then the fire ramped up so there was less smoke.

I am feeling like I am in malfunction junction this week . Everything needs fixing . Lawnmower self propelled cable broke . Did oil changes and car has a oil leak . Truck key would not turn . New lock cylinder installed . Hooked up to flatbed trailer and it has a flat tire . Tub drain was leaking . Fixed it I think . Even my dog growled at me .

Good morning gardeners. Golly gee @jerryse, sounds like a crappy week. It's got to get better from here. Still working on catching up on house things. I'm looking at next week to tackle outdoor things. Parts of my "lawn" need mowing and/ or weed whacking. Need to get the leaf blower cranked up to blow out the gutters and the yard. I have a really cool attachment that lets me blow the crap out of the gutters from the ground. No ladders needed. The temps are still mild for this time of year so fortunately no more frost for a little while. I need to throw some grass seed on the big dip in my front yard that I filled with dirt. Today I'm waiting on the cable guy to upgrade my TV and internet. I'm thinking it's a good day to make the last batch of grape jam. I'm also working on rearranging my sunroom to carve out a little space to try growing some greens indoor this winter. Your "greenhouse" is coming along well @Compost King. I can't wait to see it full of plants. Have a great day everyone.

Morning all!

The garden has officially been put to bed. All cleaned, composted & cover cropped. I will need to get the garlic in in a couple weeks, a little early for that yet. Kind of sad, but also satisfying at the same time.

I'm happy I made enough compost so I won't have to buy any. Had enough to do the blueberry bushes, rhubarb & herbs too. That's a first for me! :wee

I have a friend coming over on Friday & we're going to can some stuff outside on the deck. I have so many green tomatoes, but I'm not sure I really need anymore salsa verde. Not sure what to do with em, but I'll find something. I might take the big brandy boys & wrap them in newspaper & ripen them.

The working compost bin is stuffed full - also the first time I didn't have any blight so I was able to compost instead of burn everything. I'll top it off & call it cooking when I do the semi annual coop cleanings this weekend. Now to start collecting leaves...

Have a great day all!
