What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks! This is ten years worth and still working on it. Had to let the trees grow before we could really add anything else.
You do realize gardening is never done and yards are never finished - there is always that one more thing to add. Kinda like chicken math with plants. But I must say, you have done a great job.

Thank you again. It is very difficult to dig the ground out there so probably won’t be too much math going on ;)

Morning all!

Got lots of work to do around here but DH is still in bed & I need his help! I cant remember the last time he slept so late.

Thanks @jerryse, hopefully that's the case, she does have a ton of new feathers coming in & I hate to handle her. I do feel like she's most likely a she, but we'll find out eventually! The BRs are so hard to tell sometimes.

I agree @oldhen2345, the garden & yard will never truly be 'done'!

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning gardeners. I got distracted yesterday by a lamp I ordered. I had to go pick it up at the store. What a big PITA to put together. Still not finished. But definitely will have to put that aside and get to work in the garden today. I wouldn't worry too much about the BR @Sueby. My little Princess had something of a pea comb and was a bit more delicate looking than the other two BR pullets. Now she is well over a year old and just recently her comb and wattle have grown and I can barely tell the difference between her and the others. So as it is for human children, apparently chickens don't always grow at the same rate. I hope you are feelong better @jerryse. My daughter has what we believe is a bit of a sinus infection, but she went and got tested for covid just to be sure. Apparently the drive up testing site near her apartment hands you the test swab and guides you through swabbing up the nose yourself. How upsetting? Already feeling sick and you have to shive the swab up your own nose. We should get the results tomorrow. I am pretty sure it's just her sinuses because the symptoms were classic sinus infection. It appears the curly endive I planted is still growing. I'll get a better look at it when I get out in the garden. So this is my first year with asparagus. The fronds have not completely died down yet. Should I cover them with leaves over the winter? I'm really looking forward to having a little asaragus next Spring. It's time to get back to work. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning gardeners. I had a double dose of allergy meds last night and was sluggish this morning. Now the wind is blowing too hard to go out and plant anything. Oh well, high temps are supposed to be in the 60s next week so worst case is I do it after work if it’s too windy tomorrow. I can see big, puffy clouds on the horizon and they’re headed our way. Keeping my fingers crossed we get some rain! I did my weekly kitchen cleaning (went thru the fridge and cleaned the sink with soft scrub) but still need to run a vacuum around the house and dust. I candled the duck eggs this morning, both had movement :ya I don’t know if I mentioned it but I went ahead and ordered more eggs from elsewhere so we’re working on a homemade incubator to move them to when these two go into lockdown. Once these are done I can clean the incubator and move the newer back to finish. The new batch are a mix of penciled, blue and black. I’ll leave you with a pic of the palm tree in the neighbors yard blowing in the wind. Have a great day everyone!

OMG @Wee Farmer Sarah I feel your daughters pain! When I had a coworker turn up positive & I had to test they made me do it myself, you jam the swab as far up your nose as you can & swirl it while they count to 20! Then you have to stick the same swab in the other side & do it again! When I pulled the swab out of the first nostril my eyes were watering down my face & I had a string of snot from my nose to the swab. :gig :hit the guy at the drive thru window had the be thanking the Lord he wasn't doing it. It was awful.

Laundry day, joy, joy. I did change out the regular mattress pad for the heated mattress pad- THE best thing I ever bought myself.
Oh I used to have one of those some years back, it was heaven! I think I'll ask Santa for one for Christmas.

I'm wondering too. I started mine from a couple of roots and a bagillion seedlings I started in the greenhouse last spring. I read somewhere that you had to give it at least two years! I dunno, mine did so well this first year I'll probably pick at least a few in the spring.

That is so exciting! I'd love to have just a few runner ducks.

Raining off and on and in the 40s so I won't be doing much outside today. I already picked a big bunch of beet greens for us and chard for a neighbor. It was good work for the chard, it's still growing so thickly some of the leaves are too wet and cold and are going rotten. Nicely thinned out now.
