What did you do in the garden today?

Holiday market yesterday was a bust. We have NO idea where all the people were.

Over two days we had a dozen visitors, I took hundreds of dollars of shop items only to sell 5 sugar cookies. Oh well. At least the etsy shop was up and running while I was out of the house. And we discussed garden plans while sitting around board for two days.

Tossed a crockpot full of oatmeal in before bed to freeze for the upcoming week.
That and a weekly market trip were all I managed yesterday.

Maybe a new cell phone today. Mine is dying a hard, slow death.

Pacas are enjoying the milder weather. Birds are mad when I don't let them out. They can't figure out the whens and why of when they get to come out, so....ya. Chicken revenge is pecky.

Have a great day all.

Nothing outside at all this weekend got done but watering. Yesterday, well I’ll just leave that behind me. Today I cleaned out the pantry and found a few things I’ve been looking for, including an unopened box of steel cut oats :yesss: Then I cleaned off the shelf above the laundry machines and put the cleaning supplies I use in a bucket so the rest of the adults can’t push them all to the back where I can’t reach them. I need to go through the fridge and little freezer next and get the turkey out of the big freezer. Spaghetti for dinner for a couple of nights with baked meatballs, garlic bread and salad I think, it’s quick and simple. Have a great afternoon everyone.

Aloha all!

Yes @igorsMistress . I don't worry about that one 🍅💩 he he. I do worry about the new neighbors across the street though... Ya know, FOTB ones who travel and keep bringing their family from the mainland to stay with them and most everyone cheating on quarantine's... a school teacher who exposes her elementary kids to her choices :smack who had big dogs fighting in their yard for months :duc and never bothered to pay for the eggs they (used to) received from me... I do worry about that one calling in a complaint. That would unleash a war for sure lol.

DH still down. We go for the dredded Covid test this morning @10 after feeding the horses. Kauai is doing surge testing and just thought we should get on board. Kauai's numbers have doubled in just 3-4 weeks of altered quarantine. So now mainland people can test negative, travel with a bunch of people who did not get a test and then walk around freely w/ no quarantine here . Our #'s used to be fabulous... Not sure what is wrong with people that they just cannot wait for things to settle or be decent? Kinda like pooping in their own pond then coming here to poop in ours. Not happy! (vent, vent, vent!!!)

So, no garden. Fan is still awesome perfect. All chickens are separated in their run, garden or free range locations and seem pretty content. I do like to keep a rooster in the garden with the littles and 2 future roo's seem to volunteer for it. Yester-eve when I let the bigs out of the run to exercise and eat grass, dirt and bugs Shredder got into a fight with the rooster my way back neighbor let loose. Seems they did not want to care for him anymore so he has become my problem. He is a handsome boy and i'm sure a descendant of a fighting cock and after wounding my sweet 2yo 2" spur Shredder on my property Wild thing got a warning pellet in the tail. I don't expect him to stay away for long but I do hope, be a shame to kill such a beautiful creature and I don't want the bad chicken karma.

K. gotta get ready to head out. Stay well all.

Putting green tomatoes in a bag with fruit like apple or banana will ripen them . Ethelene gas given of by the fruit . Also refrigeration will firm up soft tomatoes . So ripen first then refrigerate them .

Wow late this year but what a great way to do things

Ya know those times when you are sure you see your chickens smile?
This made me laugh, I was picturing smiling chickens.
Also my girls in their yard in the sun today
Good they got to enjoy it, looks like more rain heading our way.
I'll take a photo once I get all the plants settled in.
Counting on it, in fact as I was reading your post I was thinking "she better post pics!"
Almost time to start planting our gardens here.
Oh please post pictures of your garden, we love pictures!

I gave the ladies yogurt with rolled oats this morning, they gave me the 4 eggs they seem to be holding at now. We're having pork ribs with coleslaw for lunch today, but tomorrow is my Birthday and I am off the diet for the day so I'll be making super custardy french toast! AND I'll walk down to the newly opened coffee hut and have a nice hot latte first thing once I get dressed! DP gave me a gift early, that heated mattress pad I was mooning for. So nice to climb into a toasty warm bed at night.

This is a bobcat outside the chick/grow-out coop one night last week. It's sitting in one of the garden beds. We haven't uncovered them yet.

@TropicalBabies your views and ours .. Wish all the folks without masks would just get covid and die ? That is really harsh but these are awful scarry times
:hugs It is a little harsh lol but sometime it gets hard not to think that way and unfortunately that is not the way it works. The nice people who risk their lives so we can have food and be cared for will be the ones to pay the price along with the ones trying to be careful and respectful but just had bad luck. I think maybe only the good die young ;)
K. Now I really gotta get :frow
