What did you do in the garden today?

Good afternoon all. @WthrLady I meant to tell you I love the colors on whatever that is you’re weaving. What is it that you’re making? I cut some rosemary off the bush for a roast today, does that count as gardening? It’s chilly outside but the breeze has stopped so that’s good. The ducklings got an open gallon bowl for their water so they can dunk their heads, but they had a great time swimming in it this afternoon! I have a three day weekend coming up so plan to do some weeding, straighten up the yard a bit and move some plotted plants to the shade garden where they’ll get more light. I also have a few minor projects to finish out front. Then we’ll need to tackle the pool, bunny run and enclosing the garden before Spring. I was just thinking that the Solstice is almost here and we still have much to prep before our temps start to warm up! Enjoy your evening all.

It's a Tartan, and thank you.

Hubby and I drove to Poplar Bluff, MO today to meet son and his wife and kids to do a walk through on 2 houses. The one is small, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom but we could enclosed the attached carport and make another bedroom and bathroom in that space.
The 2nd house is basically just roughed in on the inside. A little bit of dry wall in 1 or 2 rooms, no real flooring, not even steps down into the basement! Just a hole in the floor! No plumbing yet, but some wiring/electricity is done. This is listed as 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. I'm guessing that 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom must be downstairs (which we weren't able to access!)
Anyway, that is the one we want to put a bid on. I'm asking for an inspection ( for structural damage and mold) and for information about city ordinances (like do we have to have all the work completed in a certain amount of time?) As well as what are the occupancy permit requirements?
Can anybody think of anything else that I need to ask about? I'm hoping that if we get the house we can spend 3 months and $10,000 to $20,000 getting it finished and ready for my son and his family to move into!
My back is slightly better today. I have ice on it right now. I did make an appointment with a chiropractor for Thursday.

Make sure that if there is a bedroom in the basement or is supposed to be that you are paying for, that it has the proper egress requirements for a below grade living area.
Make sure that if the bathroom is down there that it as all the proper venting to the outside so it flows and that it has a backflow control.
Does the area require radon mitigation in the basements?
Does it have a sump pump with back flow control?
Are there any covenants in the area that are going to be a pain in the butt down the road?
Why isn't it finished now?
Did the builder quit?
Did the other owners bail in the middle of a rebuild?
if so why.....
How long has it all been exposed to the elements?

Is it on city water or a well?
Has the well been tested recently?

Has the pump been tested? the HVAC?
Is it on city sewer or a septic tank?
Has the tank been recently emptied/inspected? Are all the cleanouts easily accessible and there?

Is it on an an old cemetery, and if so did they move the bodies or just the headstones?

I have so little motivation today it's ridiculous.
DH had an appointment at the VA two hours away early this morning so morning chores were on me today. It was 3 degrees when I went out. I wore PJs and my chore boots and carhartt coat, but was still bordering on too warm.
At 8am I already had 4 eggs, so I grabbed those and put them in my pocket.
Dh has done morning and evening chores for the past three days. He gives me a break on the weekends, and yesterday they were burning the parklands and I was trying to stay out of the thick smoke. I did have to walk the dog yesterday and am paying for that jaunt today with evil sinus' and even my eyes hurt, which is better than the burning of last night.
We are still downwind of the smolder and the burn zone,so it still stinks out there. So gross.

This morning I found peppermint alpaca cookies strewn all over the shelf. I meant to put them in a glass container weeks ago. Yup. Mice. I picked up the bag and there was a tail sticking out. AHHHHH! mouse chewed its way in and tried to remove the wrong piece and it jenga'd on him trapping and squishing him. I feel bad for him, not. So much for mice not liking peppermint.View attachment 2450430

Almost done getting the threads on the loom, then I have to thread it. It's such a LONG process. OH, and I had two more Tartans accepted to the Scottish Register.

I also ordered a 1940s tweed suit pattern to make. That is my favorite look and a good one to put in my historic collection. I can make it in tweed and in linen.

I just got a whiff of paca spit..... I thought I was too close to that disagreement.....OK, off to shower alpaca spit from my hair.

OH, and I spent last night writing and writing and more writing for the blog. They are all scheduled ahead of time, so a new one every few days for December.

people also say mice cannot handle chillie peppers. a few years ago they ate my chillies.

I thought we got rid of the mice in the house but discovered they developed an alternate route to avoid the dogs. I found out that the mouse poison I have is not actually a poison but kills only mice and rats and perfectly safe to use around pets and farm animals. With the painter moving cabinets around in the kitchen every other day, I havent figured out a good spot for more of it in the kitchen but I will be buying more and spreading "snacks" for the little critters.

make sure the mouse poison is safe for pets. I lost a dog who found and ate a poisoned mouse. the vet told me this poison is safe for birds but kills any animal that has fur.

I don't know what kind of poison there is. they come in 2 colours: pink and blue. in my experience the blue one kills mice only. the pink one kills rats as well.
