What did you do in the garden today?

I have so little motivation today it's ridiculous.
DH had an appointment at the VA two hours away early this morning so morning chores were on me today. It was 3 degrees when I went out. I wore PJs and my chore boots and carhartt coat, but was still bordering on too warm.
At 8am I already had 4 eggs, so I grabbed those and put them in my pocket.
Dh has done morning and evening chores for the past three days. He gives me a break on the weekends, and yesterday they were burning the parklands and I was trying to stay out of the thick smoke. I did have to walk the dog yesterday and am paying for that jaunt today with evil sinus' and even my eyes hurt, which is better than the burning of last night.
We are still downwind of the smolder and the burn zone,so it still stinks out there. So gross.

This morning I found peppermint alpaca cookies strewn all over the shelf. I meant to put them in a glass container weeks ago. Yup. Mice. I picked up the bag and there was a tail sticking out. AHHHHH! mouse chewed its way in and tried to remove the wrong piece and it jenga'd on him trapping and squishing him. I feel bad for him, not. So much for mice not liking peppermint.

Almost done getting the threads on the loom, then I have to thread it. It's such a LONG process. OH, and I had two more Tartans accepted to the Scottish Register.

I also ordered a 1940s tweed suit pattern to make. That is my favorite look and a good one to put in my historic collection. I can make it in tweed and in linen.

I just got a whiff of paca spit..... I thought I was too close to that disagreement.....OK, off to shower alpaca spit from my hair.

OH, and I spent last night writing and writing and more writing for the blog. They are all scheduled ahead of time, so a new one every few days for December.

lol. we had mice get into the our house and found the pantry shelves. They had gotten into brownie mix - only the brownie mix (girl mice? or just smart - go for the high cal stuff!). The first mouse we caught was FAT...lol. Next mouse, not quite as fat. Then we found the hole and plugged it.

I thought we got rid of the mice in the house but discovered they developed an alternate route to avoid the dogs. I found out that the mouse poison I have is not actually a poison but kills only mice and rats and perfectly safe to use around pets and farm animals. With the painter moving cabinets around in the kitchen every other day, I havent figured out a good spot for more of it in the kitchen but I will be buying more and spreading "snacks" for the little critters.

We get mice too. The chickens take care of any that get in the coop, but the ones in the house can be a problem they tend to start coming in in the fall when it cools off. We had rats in the shed this summer but the rat snake took care of those. To be honest I think the chickens are better mousers than any of our cats.
