What did you do in the garden today?

I have tomato blossoms, and pepper buds. Eating salads. Chasing chickies out of the garden b/c they can still squirt through the electronet fencing. Need to finish spreading hay. Haven't put up pea trellis yet, and getting some sugar snap blossoms. Why can't I learn to put up the fence first. I belong on the slow bus when it comes to that!!!

I wish I was retired so I could spend my mornings in the garden instead of on the gardening thread while at work.

I used to spend my mornings in the garden when I worked full time too. It's all a matter of priorities and my priority has been the garden for a good many years...it's where our food comes from. I just got up earlier, went to bed earlier, worked harder.

Hey people I am retired ! No advantage really . Takes me twice as long to do half as much .

I worked 3:30 to 11:30 for years . Worked the garden and home projects in the mornings for years and loved it . Did day shift my last five years as they eliminated second shift . Got to the point I could not do home and work . I chose to have my home life and retired . Would love to have the energy I had back then .

I'd like to have the back I had back then.

The problem with being retired or otherwise unable to do your chosen field, is that it also often makes it doubly hard to do the physical labor one used to be able to accomplish. It's a sad old world at times. I'm with you on that one....takes me twice as long to half as much work and it hurts like the dickens every single moment.

Hey, at least you get to talk vegies and gardening, etc. ANd get the best of both. I cant garden until I get home either. Nice to unwind as I walk thru looking at the best garden we have had EVER. Enjoy it when you can fit it in your schedule . . .

Lol
People around retirement age and older keep warning me you just can't do it forever... So the grand plan is an infrastructure I can keep up with once I've gotten to that age... Wish me luck and no arthritis
Hmmm. . someone better tell my mother!!!!! Of course she eats far better than most, lots of veg, some fruits, nuts, and meats . . . not sure she has ever eaten at Mc DOnalds, lol . WIth some basic exercises to keep limber, and a few strengthening exercises . . . oh wait. . . that is gardening, not the gym!!!! lol

Piced the first peas!!! ANd ate a few pea leaves-- they actually tasted mildly like PEAS!! A new vegie for stir fries, or salads. THe rain started last night: rain or mist since, so wheelbarrel is moderately full.

Kids picked all sorts of greens and are asking for stirfry!!!!!

Those look like French Breakfast or D'Avignon (not sure of the spelling). If so, they are super mild, and yummy when sliced lengthwise and slathered with peanut butter. I wasn't a radish eater either, until I discovered this one, and tried the peanut butter. I could eat a whole plate full! I always order an extra large packet of seeds, and sprinkle a few seeds when ever I plant any other crop. They make great row markers: pop up in a jiffy, and come out just when the target crop is getting started. When I see radish sprouts, I may not remember what I planted there, but... will know that I planted something there!
