What did you do in the garden today?

This year they are growing like weeds...
lol. One web site said they are wild in SA. AND needs 4 x 4 spacing: will need to replant everyother to a new location. A new location that will have a snow fence around it-- bought that today!!

I think I'll try tomatillos next year, and maybe some ground cherries.

Found two small zucchini this morning, and sauteed them with garlic & mixed them into scrambled eggs with a little sharp cheddar for DH Father's day breakfast.
Delish!!

I wanted fried squash today . I settled for fried squash blossoms .

Oh I envy you-- I'm too frugal to give up blossoms.

I only use the male blossoms . They had already done their job . To make sure I hand pollinated the few female flowers . In a few days I should have a frying size squash . The wait is just too much .

400

second load of rice right out of the grain elevator that the farmers let me pick up when it spills.

Must be really good that you couldnt wait!!! lol I will have to look to see the differences between the male and female flower. . . . . might just consider snagging a couple male flowers!!

The female flower has a small squash at the base of the flower . Male flowers do not . I do mine in a egg wash then cracker crumbs and fry in real butter . Same way I do morel mushrooms . I fry my squash with egg wash and then dry coating then fry . I like Andes or Fryin Magic dry mix . I use oil to fry squash in .

Yummy ideas! I think I'll catch up to you soon. I've been using garlic scapes in salad; didn't think about pesto, and it sounds wonderful. My biggest escapade today was attempting to cut 1/16 " cable for the tomato trellis and not being able to or even find a cutter that would. So glad the guy at Home Depot told me about tie wire. It'll be better to work with.
