What did you do in the garden today?

Sunny day in north Idaho, so will it be more weed whacking, planting succession seeds, watering the jungle of raspberries? TBD. A couple hours of kibbitzing at farmers' market sounds great. Maybe I'll do that.

I didn't get a chance to plant my garden this year; so everything went to weeds. There are some cactus that were discarded along the garden's fence which I have ignored until this morning when I walked by:

Their fragrance is wonderful!

DH and I decided last year to take some time off. We quit our jobs, sold our houses and moved to New Mexico. Best decision we ever made.

I'm just starting a job part time working from home, and DH Has picked up some work here and there. Between that and investments we should do ok if we are smart about our money.

We caught a lot of flack from friends and family for leaving their idea of a "successful life". If another person tells me I'm too young to retire I'll scream! LOL

Yes we have much less income, but the time spent with the chickens, in the garden, and just watching the clouds roll by is priceless!!
Hurrray!! Yup, to live with a little less and enjoy life is precious!! I too feel the pressure of the"successful life", most recently as I mowed my lawn to my satisfaction: leaving tuffs of tall grasses with seed heads, an area of un mowed weeds that give honey bees their favorite flowers, and piles of manure to restart areas with squash this year and white clover next. Not a typical lawn in this area. lol

A couple days ago, the tomatillos were set outside to acclimate and escape the nippers of the mouse in the house. The next night the mouse fell in the trash can, and now the mouse is out of the house!!! ANd the tomatillos are in the ground!

More weeding of tomatos. Still about 8 left to plant.

Rains coming in overnight!! Forecast is for a rainy week.

Thank you. It took a lot of hard work, years of extra payments to pay off all mortgages, zero debt, no credit cards, and living below our means to get where we are today. When everyone else was getting bigger houses, fancier cars and vacations we stayed focused on looking for a better lifestyle.

Leaving it all was still scary though.
