What did you do in the garden today?

I also like to sit in the shade and watch the goats

Wish i had more time to waych the goats and chickens and the corn grow.

DH and I decided last year to take some time off. We quit our jobs, sold our houses and moved to New Mexico. Best decision we ever made.

I'm just starting a job part time working from home, and DH Has picked up some work here and there. Between that and investments we should do ok if we are smart about our money.

We caught a lot of flack from friends and family for leaving their idea of a "successful life". If another person tells me I'm too young to retire I'll scream! LOL

Yes we have much less income, but the time spent with the chickens, in the garden, and just watching the clouds roll by is priceless!!

Harvested our first zucc on Wednesday, and sampled a carrot last night. The wait for tomatoes is agonizing. We've got countless on the vine that seem like they should start to ripen any day now. Rubbed some basil leaves to make things smell nice and keep the bees a'comin. Cukes are a long way off, most aren't even pinky finger sized yet.

Pulled weeds out from under the cantaloupe vines and let the chicks loose on some ants that got mad at me.

Everyone at work wonders why I come in smiling every morning.

It is because I know I won't be doing it much longer and I haven't told them anything.

We will start picking green beans in the morning and the cukes are coming along. Be getting my favorites soon...purple hulls and crowder peas.

Mowed the spent pea vines . Then tilled the area .

Bent over to pull a tuft of grass from around a post before I mowed and found the reading glasses that had fallen off my head the last time I did the same.

Rained for about an hour around 5am humidity is like 99% right now. I will just watch thing grow today.
